OFFICE OUTFITS AND WORK WEAR SALES

With the Holidays in full swing, It's been tough getting some outfit posts together, but, we moved into our new office space recently and I snapped these photos of my office looks. Check them out and let me know which one is your favorite.

Wearing:
Banana Republic Sloan side-zip pant: the fit on these is amazing. I buy them in "Long" (I'm 5'7,) and they fit like a glove. The difference between these and the regular Sloan pant is that that they zip on the side. Trust me, it makes all the difference. I have the front zip version and they do nothing compared to these. I love them so much that I bought another plaid version.  They retail for $98 but regularly go on sale where you can snag them for under $50.  Tomorrow, for Cyber Monday, they go on sale for 50% off.

My blouse is the Banana Republic Riley Fit Ruffle Shirt. Also a great fit for tall girls because it's long enough where it does not untuck from your skirts or pants (pet peeve). The sleeves are just the right length.

Shoes: Mila Suede pumps by Ann Taylor. These took forever to wear in. I wouldn't recommend them for that reason alone, but, there is a nice color range  to this particular line, and they do have a classic silhouette that pairs well with everything for work.

Wearing:
J.Crew No.2 Pencil Skirt: I've written about this style skirt on TFE for years. It's an absolute classic, fits like a glove, and comes in over 8 colors. This is not a flattering photo; it sits higher on the waist than it appears here, and is slimming. It also has a little bit of stretch in the cotton that makes for a perfect fit.

Shoes: my go-to work pump - the Skyler Patent Pump by Ann Taylor. My feet are difficult to fit - I have narrow, skinny feet with a high arch. All shoes are uncomfortable for me, but these are the better fitting pair in my closet. As you probably already guessed, I have them in multiple colors. They have an almond toe, which which gives a sense of elongating and lengthening to your legs. Tomorrow, they're also 50% off on Ann Taylor with the code 'GoPink.' I'm waiting for tomorrow's sale so that I can snag them up in this beautiful, red suede.

Wearing:
Ann Taylor Leopard print skirt: I remember hunting this down a few years ago. It's got copper, metallic thread that forms the spots on the skirt. It was my favorite piece in my closet for a long time, despite the fact that it doesn't fit my perfectly, because I settled on buying a petite version, since everything else was sold out.  Ha! I needed to have it.

Carrie Cammie by J.Crew: the BEST silk cami for work and play. It is spaghetti strap, racer back, and super flattering. Can be worn with jeans, or paired with suits. It never disappoints, and is constantly sold out. You need this for your closet, so watch out for the re-stocks. Currently in in stock on J.Crew, and 40% off with online code 'Thanku.' I have them in black, and white. They are almost identical to Tibi's Silk Cami, which is double the price.

Shoes: the perfect suede pump by Banana Republic. The inside of the heel is gold plated, adding the prettiest effect. The rounded toe and wide, stacked heel, makes these the most comfortable pair of work pumps in my closet. This version is sold out but they still have this version and this pair available.

Jacket: old BR but similar to their current tie-sleeve jacket or this beautiful moto style version. How gorgeous is the Banana Republic Life in Moto jacket!? Again, tomorrow it will be on sale for 50% off, no code needed. No brainer.

Cute Baby Shower Outfit l Cute Work Outfit

A few weeks ago, we celebrated my friend's baby, Amelie. This is what I wore to her baby shower.
This high-waisted skirt, that flares, can be tough to style because you have to ensure you define your waist. The option of a cropped jacket, that falls just above the waist is the ideal option. The length of my jacket was a tad too long, but still helped pull the look together.

The bold, floral print of the A-line definitely called for a solid pairing on top.  The black jacket is interesting because of the texture of the fabric, and the detailed sequined collar.

Holiday Gift Guide for the Working Woman

This year, my holiday gift guide is for the working woman.  Down below, I've included tips and tricks to make your office holiday season less painful.

Finding the perfect holiday outfit can seem daunting, and when you add holiday office party into the mix? You can be left feeling overwhelmed. This post is not going to feature the typical holiday party dresses. My hope is that this will help career minded women transition from daytime working woman, to office party-ready with a few simple steps.

Of course, ideally, we would all love to go home, change, get a blowout, and then attend the office function, but when that's not an option, I hope that my tips still help you look put together.

Forever Colors: Colorful Stackable Bracelets

bright enamel bangles that you can stack
Charriol Forever Colors bangles.
Charriol is synonymous with luxury and high quality jewelry.  This famous Swiss jewelry house has been around a long time.  To me, a brand's ability to adapt in the marketplace is what defines its longevity. Charriol has achieved that in the jewelry business.  Throughout the years, Charriol has been able to maintain a sense of timeless elegance while also continuing to evolve.  Some of their more traditional and better known styles are  cable rings and bracelets.

Style File: Fall Fashion Favorites

I love Fall fashion - I love browsing through blogs, catalogues and lookbooks to see all of the great Fall pieces in action.  We have so few chilly days in Miami, that any drop in temperature brings a slew of scarves, and knee high boots to the city.  We may look a little ridiculous, but it's still fun to play dress up with some of the items that remain stored away, pretty much year round.

I think coated denim is a cool Fall trend, and while these jeans may be a bit on the delicate side (don't wash them at home, unless you're going to handwash them, inside out and with Woolite), they're an awesome alternative to regular dark denim.  They come in great jewel tones for the season.  Some of my favorites are below, click on the individual styles for a link back on where to buy.
By the way - Saks Off 5th is having a BUY ONE GET ONE FREE EVENT FOR DENIM.  If you know your size in Jeans - I would start stocking up.  Click here.

Outfit: Wynwood Walls & Perrier

“Disclosure: Compensation was provided by Perrier via Mode Media.  The opinions expressed herein are those of the author and are not indicative of the opinions or positions of Perrier.”

For this set of pictures, I headed over to the Wynwood Walls in Miami to take a peek at what has been going on there lately.  Every few weeks or so, the building exteriors and wall murals change with a rotating assortment of talent being showcased.  Street art in our city has been elevated to a different level since the inception of the Design District and Wynwood.
In recent years, there has been an incredible surge of life and creative energy in Miami.  Whereas before we used to see buildings "tagged" up with ugly, monochromatic, gang-related symbols and words - we now have meaningful and vibrant street art.

In a few weeks, Art Basel will be upon us, and all of the current street art will change once again.  I'm glad I snapped a few shots in front of this wall of flowers before it's replaced.

Perrier teamed up with three famed street artists from around the world: Kobra from Sao Paolo, JonOne from Paris/New York and Sasu working from Tokyo.  The goal? To create street art labels for limited edition Perrier bottles and cans.  They each designed something that was true to their own aesthetic, and their creations were paired with the Perrier product.

Some of my favorite retailers have some pretty good sales going on right now - check them out below with their promo codes.

I want to start off with Nordstrom, who is killing it lately, featuring some of my favorite brands like ALC and Helmut Lang. They're running their clearance sale in-stores & online (40% off). You can snag some really good stuff on there, like the Rebecca Minkoff Mini Mac at 40% off. I love it in silver. You can also pick up some flat boots like these by Enzo.  But, if you're my friend Paige, you're going to head straight for the Rag & Bone sale section, to pick up their booties.

Macy's: 30% off with code VETS.

GAP has 30% off with code HAPPY
They have some cuter, more structured pieces than I've ever seen - they look more high end. I like their velvet, jewel toned skinny jeans for Fall.
Old Navy has 15% off with code ONSAVENOW

J.Crew: 25% off certain items with code GETWARM.

J.Crew Factory: 30% off with code EXTRA30

Neiman Marcus has $100 off $400 with code NOV50 I'm really into studded flat boots, and Neiman's has a good selection.  I like these by Chloe (the leather Chelsea boot) and these from Frye (Veronica Studded Biker Boot)

Splendid: 25% off with code WELOVEYOU.

West Elm is doing 15% off clearance with code YIPPEE -and 20% off of lighting, coffee tables, side tables table top decore and linens. Basically, the whole store is on sale. They hosted us for a blogger brunch a few weeks back and I saw some really cute stuff in the store.  They now have a line of plates and mugs with animal caricatures on them (The Dapper Animal line).  My favorite was this owl mug:

Style File: JCrew Work Wear Pieces

Sometimes, the easiest thing to throw on for the office is a good work-wear dress topped with a blazer or cardigan. It's a basic, feminine outfit for the office that requires minimal thought on those mornings were you're feeling nervous because you've got a big presentation or just four seconds to get out the door.

I like J.Crew dresses because they're well tailored/ constructed, the length is always appropriate, and they have a little bit of an extra design element that sets them apart from the basic corporate shift dress.

Style File: Della x Urban Outiftters

Socially conscious, LA based clothing brand, Della, has partnered with Urban Outfitters.  The Summer 2014 line, which is currently carried by UO highlights boho-chic pieces: think flowy maxi dresses, rompers, loose shorts, and paper bag pants.

The brains behind the brand infused a socially conscious thread into this line, by ensuring that their employees (who mostly reside in Ghana)  receive fair wages, education, and literacy training via the company.

See some of the new line below and shop it at Urban Outfitters online and in-store locations (Tampa, Orlando, Miami, and LA) starting this week!

If you purchase something from the new line, send your confirmation e-mail to Nandi@DellaLA.com and mention my blog, to receive a gift (either a MacBook Pro case/sleeve or a hobo bag).

Brunch with French Connection

I attended a brunch at SoHo House, hosted by French Connection on Saturday.  We enjoyed prosecco, french toast, delicious eggs, and amazing quinoa salad courtesy of Cecconi's.  I love the combination indoor / outdoor setting at this restaurant; the space is built around trees that have small little lights strung on them giving the entire area a cool and pretty vibe.

So many of my blogger sisters were in attendance, and it was an awesome opportunity to get to know French Connection a little better.  I love events like this because they're casual and relaxed - there's no stress involved.

Just a bunch of girls, dressed in our French Connection best :)

Style File: Blo Midtown, Miami

Happy weekend, everyone!  This is a quick post to let you all know I recently had the chance to get my hair blown out at Blo Dry Bar, in Midtown Miami.  I was in love with my blowout.  I've always had long hair which I hate to do myself, so I'm no stranger to getting a blowout.  I know when a blowout is terrible, good, and great.  This one was great.  They used shampoo from the UNITE (I believe it was the smoothing one, which is also sulfate free) and I received a conditioning treatment.  My hair is currently really long, and has a ton of split ends; tangles like crazy and is dry.
Whatever they did made my hair really soft, shiny and bouncy.  Also, if you're into great scents, request some mint extract oil for your shampoo/condition.  You will get an awesome minty aroma as they shampoo and condition your hair.  It feels cool and tingly on your scalp.  I recommend a cold water rinse so that your hair cuticle is sealed for even more shine.

I spoke with my stylist and told her I wanted some bounce on my ends, which she definitely achieved.  I also had her put product only on my ends (my hair tends to get greasy quickly).  Blo Midtown uses the Croc flat iron (pink) which is the best flat iron I have ever used.  Heats up super quick, gets really hot, and has 18 fully digital temp settings.  For my style, below, they did not use the flat iron on too many areas because of the type of look I wanted, but it was passed through my hair quickly.

Bebe #SpringFling, Avenutra Mall, Miami

On Thursday night, I helped Bebe celebrate the launch of their new Spring collection over at the Aventura mall, while the other half of my pals gathered at the Lincoln Road store.

With the new collection, I found that there is definitely something for everyone.  There are lots of body hugging skirts and dresses, but there are also many flowy pieces with vibrant colors and patterns; a definite 'must' in the Miami style market (which may be the reason why they have an entire Miami style section on their website).  I had a lot of fun playing dress up and finally settled on a not-so-traditional black and white ensemble.

Hosting Gig: Gap Friends & Family Fall Collection + Dadeland Mall + Gap Promo Codes

I want to thank everyone who came out to support me and the blog at The Gap a few weekends ago.  I was honored to have The Gap ask me to host one of their in-store shopping events at Dadeland Mall.  I love the new, edgier and more fashion forward Fall collection.  There are a ton of textured pieces, with streamlined silhouettes. You should also check out their outerwear and cropped jackets: I can't wait for temperatures to dip into the low 70's in Miami so that I can sport some of their new Fall styles, ha, ha!

As part of the fun, I styled three mannequins using pieces from the store.  You can see the looks below.

And a big thank you to Gatsby, for making an adorable appearance and making everyone fall in love with him.

Hotel Urbano, Miami + Miami Bloggers Brunch

Spent Saturday with a group of girls that I have really grown fond of - my Miami blogger sisters.  I was so shy when I first started the blog, I never went to any Miami events with any of the local girls.  I am so happy to say that I'm over that now and have met so many great people as a result.  I really love the doors that this little side project has opened up.

Jana of OJ & CIGS set up a brunch for us girls, at Hotel Urbano off of Brickell Ave, a chic boutique hotel that doubles as part art gallery and part lazy day paradise (think: poolside cabanas and palm trees). Massage and nail stations were set up on-site, compliments of Exhale Spa with a fashion show by Zeki Swimwear and a fab jewelry stand by Dopodomani.

Yes, it was really, really hot, but still a great time.  Our gift bags included what I hope will be an awesome hair glossing treatment from a local salon (Red Carpet Salon).  I'm really excited to book my appointment because my hair is in major need of some love.

Lots of pictures of these lovely ladies, and the links to their blogs, down towards the bottom of this post (warning: picture heavy post)

I hope you enjoy my pictures, and thank you for reading.  It makes me happy :)

Top: Karla teaching me how to get Bokeh. I failed.
Bottom: Bokeh! The table setup with these adorable polka dot straws with our blogger handles on flags! Love.

Art Basel 2012: Cartier Miami Design District

A couple of months ago the Cartier boutique in Bal Harbor closed shop in order to transfer to Miami's Design District.  Last week, our city played host to Art Basel, an art event and fair that has gained so much popularity in the last five years or so, that people from all parts of the world attend.  Art Basel brings multiple nightly parties to Miami.  Not one to be outdone (ever), Cartier hosted a series of Basel fetes; one of them being a cocktail party showcasing some of their most coveted pieces.

The event was perfectly executed, from the mouth-watering light bites that were passed, down to the Cartier champagne that kept making the rounds.

The store aesthetic was ultra-luxe - plush purple carpet and orchids throughout the space, coupled with a really unique display of baby's breath, clustered in the center of the room.  I'd never seen baby's breath look this chic. Honestly, it looked like a cloud.

The jewels were arranged throughout the space in glass display cases, like a museum, and I made my way throughout the store, picking my favorites out and even trying some of them on.  Everyone on staff was so polite and indulged my every whim.  You would like to try on the new ring from the Caresse D'Orchidees Par Cartier collection? Oh, no problem! Let me take it out of the display case with my gloved hand and pour you a glass while you wait.  Nice.
