Outfit: Art Basel Jumpsuiting at Design Miami

I attended the 10th anniversary exhibition of Design Miami at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
This was one of my favorite art events. This event is centered around home design and furnishings. The amount of unique pieces on display from various galleries was incredible.  The Design Visionary award went to famed architect Peter Marino who has collaborated to create retail spaces for Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Chanel, Dior and Bulgari.  His installation featured many of the pieces from his private collection (mostly chairs).

I wore a burgundy, silk jumpsuit from TJ Maxx and the same BCBG embellished heels from this post.  My black blazer has a leather trim and is from Zara.  I also wearing a vintage gold stretchy belt.  Outfit photos and some artwork pictures by Gissi J.

Art Basel: Breakfast with Henri Bendel and Harper's Bazaar

Art Basel Miami 2014
When two fashion powerhouses invite you to breakfast, you jump for joy and arrive with bells on.
Henri Bendel's longevity on the market is a testament to their ability to appeal to the fashionably conscious, traditional woman in all of us.  Harper's Bazaar's editorial prowess and tireless scouting of on-trend style is the reason they've enjoyed top ranks among fashion magazines for so long.
These two hosted a breakfast at SoHo House in Miami that focused on the Henri Bendel Luxe line and the way that social and digital media play a role in this evolving industry.

Bendel Creative Director Pina Ferlisi chatted with us about the Luxe Line.  When developing this line, the goal was to meld high fashion jewelry with the enviable quality of the real thing.  This is the reason that the pieces in the Luxe Line look and feel authentic. The settings (from pave, to asscher, to cushion cut) mimic real-life glamour.  The weight of the pieces is also a factor in their quality.  Semi-precious stones are used in production, including Swarovski crystals.  When all is said and done, this line boasts chic, well made pieces that you're going to want in your velvet lined jewelry drawer.

Today, Henri Bendel is offering 20% off most jewelry and an additional 20% off when you spend $150 or more.
This was an office friendly outfit.  I wore white, wide-leg Alice & Olivia pants and a black top from Tildon (Nordstrom).  Oh, and can't forget my green velvet heels.

Art Basel Miami 2014: Mijares

art basel miami 2014 mijares

Alexander Mijares is a local artist who was born and raised in Miami.  I am so in love with his artwork! It's dynamic and full of color and energy.  He has been one of my favorites for a long time, which is why I was honored to cover the opening night of his newest series of paintings for Art Basel Miami, 2014.
The exhibit of his most current works features Mijares' trademark geometric, linear style fused with the vibrant colors that he is so well known for.  Nevermind the custom Lambo outside the gallery...

I wore an embellished white silk shift dress by Vera Wang's now defunct sub-brand, Lavender Label. and sparkly shoes by BCBG.  The dress is old, but thew new DVF Cecilia "Ladder Stich Shift" dress is very similar.  I also like this classic embellished shift dress available at Nordstrom from brand Eliza J.

Art Basel 2014 Kris Knight + Gucci

Gucci and the Spinello Projects presented the Kris Knight Smell The Magic Exhibit in Miami's Design District.  This was the unofficial first night of Art Basel 2014 in Miami.  While the city comes alive during Basel, it is probably one of the worst times for traffic in Miami.  Currently the powers that be have managed to have everything, and I mean everything, under construction.  This does make navigating the art scene a bit more difficult, but in the end, it's all offset because we always have a great time and get to experience really interesting people and great vibes.

OOTD: Art Basel Miami 2013, Gale Hotel: Paper Mag + Asos Party

Last Friday night brought a quick stop to the Gale Hotel on South Beach for an Art Basel rooftop event hosted by Paper Mag and Asos.  Dinner at 5 Napkins before that, (delicious food, try the Wasabi Deviled Eggs and the Mahi Tacos).  I ate too much.

I really liked the atmosphere and decore at this boutique hotel.  It had an Old World feel but at the same time kept things a bit modern and streamlined.  All of the doors and harware are new, clean and pretty, but there is a mixture of antique photographs and paintings throughout that give everything a really cool feel.

Art Basel 2013: Miami, Ketel One De Nolet + Art Miami + Spectrum Miami + The Photographic Journal

Wearing a tutu and spike necklace, I went into the last night of Art Basel last week, bravely and stoically, only to end up in a pair of PayLess flip flops by the end of the night.
My feet suffered that night.
They died.

I attended the De Nolet event, a cool party in Wynwood hosted by Ketel One.  My blogger sisters were there, and we enjoyed fun complimentary cocktails and passed bites from Gigi's (one of our fave late night stops for good food and atmosphere).

We were there for a short while before I ran into my good friend, photographer Augustin Sanchez.  Augi is really talented and he has recently launched his passion project, The Photographic Journal, in conjunction with Instagram Hall-Of-Famer Dan Rubin.  This online site is his study in portraiture, among other things; it also allows users to upload their own submissions for a chance to have them published on the site, or, in the future, in print.
If you have a minute, check out the pictures they already have up on the site, and I think you'll agree with me - TPJ is teeming with inspiration and talent.

Augi quickly snapped these pictures of a self-conscious me, as I fidgeted with my hair and outfit.

OOTD: Art Basel 2013, Miami: Cassina x Louis Vuitton + Bailey 44 Dante Dress

Armed with my love (he is camera shy, but I still got some pics of him) and my blogger partner in crime, Gissi of The Architect of Style, I braved the Art Basel Miami traffic, and decided to get social last week. Check out some pictures from the Fox House and High Heels Suicide Pop Up as well as the Cassina x Louis Vuitton party.

Fox House is an online retailer of pieces that are curated for the surf loving-bohemian, frayed denim, free spirit in all of us.  Owner Tobi Salver took her online business and made it a boutique reality with the Fox House Pop Up debuting during Art Basel 2013.

Art Basel 2012: Cartier Miami Design District

A couple of months ago the Cartier boutique in Bal Harbor closed shop in order to transfer to Miami's Design District.  Last week, our city played host to Art Basel, an art event and fair that has gained so much popularity in the last five years or so, that people from all parts of the world attend.  Art Basel brings multiple nightly parties to Miami.  Not one to be outdone (ever), Cartier hosted a series of Basel fetes; one of them being a cocktail party showcasing some of their most coveted pieces.

The event was perfectly executed, from the mouth-watering light bites that were passed, down to the Cartier champagne that kept making the rounds.

The store aesthetic was ultra-luxe - plush purple carpet and orchids throughout the space, coupled with a really unique display of baby's breath, clustered in the center of the room.  I'd never seen baby's breath look this chic. Honestly, it looked like a cloud.

The jewels were arranged throughout the space in glass display cases, like a museum, and I made my way throughout the store, picking my favorites out and even trying some of them on.  Everyone on staff was so polite and indulged my every whim.  You would like to try on the new ring from the Caresse D'Orchidees Par Cartier collection? Oh, no problem! Let me take it out of the display case with my gloved hand and pour you a glass while you wait.  Nice.

Elle Magazine & Guess by Marciano Cocktails & Style Sweepstakes - Art Basel, Miami, Fl

Art Basel is a week long Miami art show that draws in a lot of snowbirds and art lovers to the city.  The week is filled with non-stop parties.  Some of the events are put on by high end jewelry lines like Cartier, and other festivities include photography and jewelry exhibitions from lesser known artists.  Regardless of the event, it's always fun to attend something during Art Basel, and it makes for great people watching.

The Patron Social Club sent me and a guest to the Guess by Marciano & Elle Magazine Cocktails & Style Sweepstakes party.

The event was hosted in South Beach at the Guess Store on Lincoln Road.  For the first time in a long time, we had somewhat cooler and breezy weather so I paired a navy sweater dress with leopard patterned tights.

The event was a collaboration between Elle Magazine, Patron & Guess.  They served cocktails with ginger beer (not my thing, I discovered) & appetizers like mini lobster rolls and roast beef with crystallized something on top, which was delicious.  Great music, too; great DJ.  Overall a very fun experience..
