Alexander Mijares is a local artist who was born and raised in Miami. I am so in love with his artwork! It's dynamic and full of color and energy. He has been one of my favorites for a long time, which is why I was honored to cover the opening night of his newest series of paintings for Art Basel Miami, 2014.
The exhibit of his most current works features Mijares' trademark geometric, linear style fused with the vibrant colors that he is so well known for. Nevermind the custom Lambo outside the gallery...

For this set of pictures, I headed over to the Wynwood Walls in Miami to take a peek at what has been going on there lately. Every few weeks or so, the building exteriors and wall murals change with a rotating assortment of talent being showcased. Street art in our city has been elevated to a different level since the inception of the Design District and Wynwood.
In recent years, there has been an incredible surge of life and creative energy in Miami. Whereas before we used to see buildings "tagged" up with ugly, monochromatic, gang-related symbols and words - we now have meaningful and vibrant street art.
In a few weeks, Art Basel will be upon us, and all of the current street art will change once again. I'm glad I snapped a few shots in front of this wall of flowers before it's replaced.
Perrier teamed up with three famed street artists from around the world: Kobra from Sao Paolo, JonOnefrom Paris/New York and Sasu working from Tokyo. The goal? To create street art labels for limited edition Perrier bottles and cans. They each designed something that was true to their own aesthetic, and their creations were paired with the Perrier product.
How amazing is this wall mural in Wynwood, Miami? A few weeks ago, Nicky Hilton (yep) was in Miami and she posed in front of this gorgeous piece and posted it to her insta. I was so drawn to it that I scouted it out this weekend. I found it on 25th street, in Wynwood, off of N.W. 2nd avenue.
The Bazaar Project is a perfectly curated boutique in Miami's Design District helmed by owner Yeliz Titiz, a business savvy lady with a background in fashion merchandising and a well-traveled eye for the exotic.
Inside the stylish store you will find luxe homewares and jewelry; everything from geode coasters to handmade (by her) statement necklaces.
I took a tour inside this small shop on a Saturday, and had fun browsing the eclectic selection. The Bazaar Project also stocks its shelves with soaps, candles, rings, clutches and caftans.

This weekend I had a chance to collaborate with a local Miami boutique called The Bazaar Project. The full post will be up soon but in the meantime, I snapped these pictures outside of Harry's Pizza. There's something about a gray wall that serves as the perfect canvas for an outfit shot.
I love the hippy vibe this floral crop top gives off. The high neck makes it perfect for a top knot and the angled cut of the neckline is flattering on the arms and shoulders. This type of design in a top can be tricky at times and a bit unflattering if you're not careful. It's not the easiest to wear but it looks really polished when done right. A floral crop top can also be paired with a high waisted black pencil skirt for a more uptown feel.
Wearing a tutu and spike necklace, I went into the last night of Art Basel last week, bravely and stoically, only to end up in a pair of PayLess flip flops by the end of the night.
My feet suffered that night.
They died.

I attended the De Nolet event, a cool party in Wynwood hosted by Ketel One. My blogger sisters were there, and we enjoyed fun complimentary cocktails and passed bites from Gigi's (one of our fave late night stops for good food and atmosphere).
We were there for a short while before I ran into my good friend, photographer Augustin Sanchez. Augi is really talented and he has recently launched his passion project, The Photographic Journal, in conjunction with Instagram Hall-Of-Famer Dan Rubin.This online site is his study in portraiture, among other things; it also allows users to upload their own submissions for a chance to have them published on the site, or, in the future, in print.

I paired it with my neon Gap boyfriend shorts for a Sunday date day in Midtown Miami. The murals and graffiti art in this area are always evolving, and they make a great backdrop for photos, don't you think?
I highly recommend the shorts I'm wearing; they're so comfortable and versatile; a great option for hot summer days. These also look great paired with a great baseball tee.
Part of my arm candy is this great pyramid cuff (Apex Cuff) by Bare Collection Jewelry that was a little difficult to photograph,but I assure you, it's awesome. The quality really stands out; stay tuned for a minimalist outfit of the day featuring this cuff in the coming weeks.
Last week I was invited by Lincoln Motors to attend their Hello Again #helloagain tour in Miami and experience the Lincoln MKZ. I was so happy to see Kara of Sprinkles in Springs there, along with her boyfriend who was so sweet to snap some pictures of us. Together, we drove in a Lincoln MKZ through Wynwood, part of Miami's Design District. We hit local spots Panther Coffee and the Wynwood Cigar Factory. We drove through (yes, drove through the middle of) an art gallery that had various prints and Miami skyline photos displayed on either side of the 'road,' (Curated by RAWartists.org. At the end of the event we were treated to bites from Wynwood Kitchen & Barat SoHo Studios.
