OFFICE OUTFITS AND WORK WEAR SALES

With the Holidays in full swing, It's been tough getting some outfit posts together, but, we moved into our new office space recently and I snapped these photos of my office looks. Check them out and let me know which one is your favorite.

Wearing:
Banana Republic Sloan side-zip pant: the fit on these is amazing. I buy them in "Long" (I'm 5'7,) and they fit like a glove. The difference between these and the regular Sloan pant is that that they zip on the side. Trust me, it makes all the difference. I have the front zip version and they do nothing compared to these. I love them so much that I bought another plaid version.  They retail for $98 but regularly go on sale where you can snag them for under $50.  Tomorrow, for Cyber Monday, they go on sale for 50% off.

My blouse is the Banana Republic Riley Fit Ruffle Shirt. Also a great fit for tall girls because it's long enough where it does not untuck from your skirts or pants (pet peeve). The sleeves are just the right length.

Shoes: Mila Suede pumps by Ann Taylor. These took forever to wear in. I wouldn't recommend them for that reason alone, but, there is a nice color range  to this particular line, and they do have a classic silhouette that pairs well with everything for work.

Wearing:
J.Crew No.2 Pencil Skirt: I've written about this style skirt on TFE for years. It's an absolute classic, fits like a glove, and comes in over 8 colors. This is not a flattering photo; it sits higher on the waist than it appears here, and is slimming. It also has a little bit of stretch in the cotton that makes for a perfect fit.

Shoes: my go-to work pump - the Skyler Patent Pump by Ann Taylor. My feet are difficult to fit - I have narrow, skinny feet with a high arch. All shoes are uncomfortable for me, but these are the better fitting pair in my closet. As you probably already guessed, I have them in multiple colors. They have an almond toe, which which gives a sense of elongating and lengthening to your legs. Tomorrow, they're also 50% off on Ann Taylor with the code 'GoPink.' I'm waiting for tomorrow's sale so that I can snag them up in this beautiful, red suede.

Wearing:
Ann Taylor Leopard print skirt: I remember hunting this down a few years ago. It's got copper, metallic thread that forms the spots on the skirt. It was my favorite piece in my closet for a long time, despite the fact that it doesn't fit my perfectly, because I settled on buying a petite version, since everything else was sold out.  Ha! I needed to have it.

Carrie Cammie by J.Crew: the BEST silk cami for work and play. It is spaghetti strap, racer back, and super flattering. Can be worn with jeans, or paired with suits. It never disappoints, and is constantly sold out. You need this for your closet, so watch out for the re-stocks. Currently in in stock on J.Crew, and 40% off with online code 'Thanku.' I have them in black, and white. They are almost identical to Tibi's Silk Cami, which is double the price.

Shoes: the perfect suede pump by Banana Republic. The inside of the heel is gold plated, adding the prettiest effect. The rounded toe and wide, stacked heel, makes these the most comfortable pair of work pumps in my closet. This version is sold out but they still have this version and this pair available.

Jacket: old BR but similar to their current tie-sleeve jacket or this beautiful moto style version. How gorgeous is the Banana Republic Life in Moto jacket!? Again, tomorrow it will be on sale for 50% off, no code needed. No brainer.

Cute Baby Shower Outfit l Cute Work Outfit

A few weeks ago, we celebrated my friend's baby, Amelie. This is what I wore to her baby shower.
This high-waisted skirt, that flares, can be tough to style because you have to ensure you define your waist. The option of a cropped jacket, that falls just above the waist is the ideal option. The length of my jacket was a tad too long, but still helped pull the look together.

The bold, floral print of the A-line definitely called for a solid pairing on top.  The black jacket is interesting because of the texture of the fabric, and the detailed sequined collar.

A Classic Work Look With A Pencil Skirt

Miami FASHION BLOGGER
I love pairing black and gray together to get a classic work look. It's always professional but more interesting than a simple monochromatic style.  I think one reason that dressing for the office can get monotonous is because we all tend to fall into work "ruts" where our 9 to 5 cycle seems endless.  I have a very demanding job, and believe me, it's very easy to just wear slacks and a button down all week long, but sometimes you want to feel a bit more confident and stand out - not just for what you're saying and accomplishing but also for your great outfit.

A pencil skirt with a sleek silhouette is a workwear staple that every woman needs in her style arsenal.  The one I'm wearing is by Olga Pastrynak. It has impeccable tailoring, is made from high-quality fabric, moves with ease and has an appropriate length.  It's also lined, which is very important for avoiding ugly lines in harsh office lighting

Whenever I wear a high neck top, I always pick my hair up. I like the contrast of a messy ponytail with a polished outfit.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Please let me know in the comments section below.

Workwear Flow

You guys know I love a killer LBD for the office. You may think it's boring but for work, I tend to wear black all the time. It looks sleek and no-nonsense. Black dresses are an absolute must for any closet, but particularly, a working wardrobe.  I'm in love with the Rossana dress by Olga Pastyrnak. While this dress is seriously backless, it can work for the office if you keep a jacket on, otherwise, take it out for a night on the town because it's perfect.  TFE Pro Tip: when going backless - did you know that your tailor will sew bra liners into anything for about $15? Yep, blouses or dresses! Otherwise, these work wonders.

The tailoring on this dress is absolutely on point, hugging all the right places. The fabric is so luxurious and soft. It drapes and moves really well. The length is work appropriate. Another option from this line is the high waisted Patricia Skirt  (here in gray). While this piece would not work for the office, it is a good staple to stock your closet with. It's a more unique alternative to a basic pencil skirt, with a more interesting line and cut.

What to Wear to Work - A Brand Guide to Buying Work Clothes Online

Your favorite online retailers have dedicated sections for workwear. You may have overlooked these, because they're naturally not as fun to browse as the tabs that contain those fab feathered ostrich skirts, but, they're there!

Below is a list of the top online workwear retailers, you will be surprised by the selection at the bottom of this post.

1) Express:  I promise you, take a poll at your office, and you will see that 9 out of 10 women will own a pair of the Express Editor pants. Their suiting is affordable and if you're bold, they've updated their workwear section with a ton of brightly colored options.

Some other exciting new; Express has launched a limited edition capsule collection.  Express Edition is the brand's first high-end collection, offering must have pieces for girls in the fashion world. It's very fashion driven. You can get some killer investment pieces that will easily transition into all areas of your wardrobe. This specific collection is only available in 27 stores. Two of those stores are in Miami - Dadeland Mall and Aventura Mall.

Express Edition collection
2) Nordstrom: Consider browsing through the collections of designers and brands that you may not generally go to for workwear. Brands like Vince Camuto have pieces that work (no pun intended) for the office. Nordstrom is a one-stop-shop for your workwear needs. In their dedicated section, they include all of the office basics, from pumps to purses. That Longchamp Le Pliage tote that fits everything? It's there, too. They exclusively carry the brand Chelsea 28, a modern line tailored towards a trendy, fashionable woman. The pieces from this line can transition to corporate life. I own the Chelsea 28 Wide Leg Pant and I love the pair I own. They're great for all occasions.

One of my workwear faves (but be mindful, you will need to hem these if you're under 5'6)
3) Olga Pastyrnak: this designer's website is total workwear luxury. The pieces are expertly designed and tailored. The fabrics are luxe. The Elynora dress is just about the most perfect workday-to-evening-out dress you can imagine. For the office, it would look amazing with a boxy cut, cropped blazer. I can tell you from personal experience that the fabrics from this collection are beautiful and feel amazing against your skin.

4) Brooks Brothers: chances are that if you're a woman searching for office attire, you're going to overlook Brooks Brothers' traditionally male oriented selection. However, a quick glance at their women's suiting department reveals great sales, and great womenswear pieces! You'll find trousers reduced from $200 to $79, and gorgeous blazers for 50% off.

5) Reiss: Reiss has such an amazing selection of outerwear and jackets/blazers. I had to include them in this roundup. They actually have a women's suiting section that's got absolutely beautiful pieces in it. I mean, how gorgeous is the cut and color on this single breasted blazer

6) Dillards: women's suits at Dillards? Yep. And on sale. They carry brands like Tahari, Calvin Klein, and more. Their selection is not just limited to suiting. They carry all of the workday essentials like pumps, tops, pencil skirts (can't beat that one for $54). A tip that I've picked up over my shopping career: Tahari and Calvin Klein are generous when it comes to sizing. If you're in between sizing, size down.

I hope that you enjoyed this post! Let me know in the comments section down below!

How to Style a White Shift Dress

office dresses by Brass

I love a good shift dress - I gravitate towards the 60's gamine style; that wide-eyed, Edie Sedgwick look that's so iconic.

The "A-Line" dress by Brass Clothing is a great shift dress. Whenever I see a white dress, I'm always wary of using it for work or daytime, because of the obvious issue: transparency.  I'm happy to report that this dress passes the see-through test with flying colors. It's a great material, too; thick, with a mini-quilt pattern throughout.

Lawyer Look: Marimekko for Casual Office Wear

Marimekko is a Finnish brand that has been around for 60 + years. They have traditionally put out strong, colorful patterns on their dresses, skirts and tops.  You can also find those prints transferred onto items for the home, like their trays, glasware and tableware.

For today's 9 to 5 Style File, I'm wearing the Marimekko Suvetar Dress.  The fabric of the dress is lightweight due to a blend of cotton and silk; the length and fit makes it office appropriate.  I like this bold, floral pattern for a more laid back office look.

Office Wear Work Wear 9 to 5

The dress is pretty conservative on it's own - 3/4 length sleeves, etc.  It does not really need much to be ready for your 9 to 5, but the addition of a black blazer or obi belt can bring some variety to the dress and can help create a more slim silhouette.  These designs are meant to be loose fitting and have more of a boxy feel.

The addition of the obi is something you could consider for after work events.  The blazer just adds a more conservative feel the the piece, but because of the high neck, some may shy away from a jacket altogether.

I hope that you're enjoying the workwear posts.
Have a safe holiday weekend.

Beauty File: Beauty Products That Make Life Easier For The Woman On The Go!

Good morning! One of the worst things about the 9 to 5 grind (which ends up being more like 7 to 7 some days) is trying to incorporate a beauty routine that gets you out the door quickly but doesn't leave you looking like you did your make up with your left hand, in the dark.

Call it vain, but the truth is -  appearance counts, even when you have the credentials to back up whatever it is you're bringing to the table.  Simply said: you don't want to make an appearance in court, or at a meeting, looking like you slept in your car.

Lucky for you, you read my blog, so today, you'll know what I know.  The list below is made up of products that are designed to help speed up your morning ritual and last through a long work day.  They're fast-acting and convenient for a busy lifestyle.

1) Silicon Mix with Bambu.  A deeply moisturizing and conditioning hair mask, that works in less than 5 minutes.  For my Miami girls, this is a drug store find from Navarro.  Everyone else can buy it on Amazon.  Nothing that I've ever tried, be it high end or otherwise, has compared to this.  This leaves my hair super soft and shiny.  It penetrates quickly and rinses cleanly without leaving residue.  It helps detangle my long hair.

Style File: Casual Fridays + Flats For The Office

Workwear 9 to 5 Style for the office
Although I rarely wear them, ballet flats can be a good option for the office on casual office days.  I personally do not like how I look in flats, but I have recently suffered a back injury and have been forced to temporarily retire my heels.  Switching gears and introducing flats into my work wardrobe was a welcomed change of pace.  That's why I was so happy when Mia Shoes sent over these adorable snakeprint ballet flats, the Mia Ballerina. Flats also pair well with denim - especially skinny jeans.

Forever Colors: Colorful Stackable Bracelets

bright enamel bangles that you can stack
Charriol Forever Colors bangles.
Charriol is synonymous with luxury and high quality jewelry.  This famous Swiss jewelry house has been around a long time.  To me, a brand's ability to adapt in the marketplace is what defines its longevity. Charriol has achieved that in the jewelry business.  Throughout the years, Charriol has been able to maintain a sense of timeless elegance while also continuing to evolve.  Some of their more traditional and better known styles are  cable rings and bracelets.

Basic Black Suit

A basic black skirt suit is a must for the office.  Although I love black, it can get boring.  Pairing a black suit with a bright red or berry lip and a fun blouse can make a statement without interfering with the sophisticated look that wearing all black can give.  If you don't have a cool, patterned blouse, you could opt for a tie-neck blouse like the one I'm wearing, although if I'm being honest, they're not too practical.  They have a tendency to untie throughout the day, or sometimes the bow lays funny, like in these shots.  If you can get it right though, they look elegant and classy.  If you're not sure where to buy your work suits or office attire, check out this post from last week, listing my favorite online workwear retailers.

9 to 5 Workwear: Top Online Workwear Retailers

Did you know that a lot of your favorite contemporary brands have recently begun to offer workwear sections online?
Ann Taylor Tropical Wool One Button Jacket

I love this! Now us working women have a much wider range of fashionable options for the office.  I've listed my favorites below - broken down into categories.  Something to keep in mind when shopping online is the height of the individual modeling the clothes. For example, in some photos in this post, hemlines may appear short because most models are 5"10 - 5"11. If you're going to make an online purchase, always remember to check out the "size and fit" section of the item so that you can see how tall the model is.  Click the link below to see what brands made my list of the Top Online Workwear Retailers.

Little Black Dress for The Office: 9 to 5 Style File, Work Wear

Hi! My 9 to 5 Style File continues today (FRIDAY, YAY!!) with the classic LBD (little black dress).
The LBD will forever be a closet staple for every woman.  There are countless ways to style one, but maybe the best part about them is that they do not involve much thought...so if you really don't have the time or energy to put an entire outfit together, you can definitely still achieve an office-chic look without thinking by just hopping into a LBD.

For this look, I threw on a leopard cardigan over a little black dress, and cinched the waist with a gold belt. You can tone it down for the office by eliminating the red lipstick and the super large, sparkly earrings. Keep them in your work bag and add them when the clock strikes 5 ;)

Finding the right little black dress is easy once you have narrowed down the style that you're going for. For the office I like a classic high neck, shift or a wrap dress.  You can narrow it down further by deciding if you want sleeveless or a slight sleeve.  I like this pencil dress from Nordstrom.  It is a good office length, has a high neck and a little cap sleeve and is ultra classic.

You can achieve my favorite lazy girl bun (which was toppling over in these shots...great) by waiting until Friday night to wash your hair.
Just kidding.
Not really.

9 to 5 File: Navy Separates

Hi guys! I'm debuting my 9 to 5 Style series today! This series of workwear posts will feature more conservative, and traditional office styles on Monday.  On Friday, the outfits will be more office casual and fashion forward.

This concept is not new, but I personally developed it because of my full time job as an attorney in Miami.  I have been practicing for a little over 9 years now, and believe me when I tell you, I have seen some pretty scary outfits that people try to pass off as office appropriate.

Scooped necklines exposing cleavage? Check.  Hemlines 10 inches above the knees? Check. Sleeveless, tight dresses paraded into the courtroom? Check. Skintight leggings paired with long, untucked tunics? Check.
You would not believe what some women wear to work!

My hope for this style series is that working women who have to go to and from the office all week, have a chance to get a bit of fashion inspiration from the posts and still dress professionally.  In between, I will still continue to show weekend outfits.

Style File: Gucci Lady Web Bag

Taking a minute out of my Sunday to talk about the new, perfectly 70's, Gucci Lady Web bag.
It's a cross body, or a shoulder bag, that comes in more than five variations, including suede, python and crocodile.  Gucci categorizes this bag as hobo/shoulder bag.  The suede versions are my absolute favorite.  I can't get enough of that rich rust color, but I do also like the original Gucci print paired with the classic red and green striped strap.  This combination comes in two sizes, a smaller size and the larger, both pictured below.  There is also a classic among this family, the original GG Canvas Lady Web Boston bag and recently the Gucci Lady Convertible Wallet has debuted. This is a must have bag for Spring 2015. What do you guys think?

Chloe Drew Bag; Chloe Spring Collection + Bal Harbour Store Relaunch

Chloe Spring 2015
The Chloe in Bal Harbour relaunched this week, with one of the best redesign parties we've seen in a long time.  The Chloe line, synonymous with It-Girl style, has always exuded effortless femininity.  This new collection for 2015 is beyond magical.  The colors and fabrics are perfect for attaining that feminine, flowy feel that's both understated and elegant.  It's perfect.
Chloe Spring Collection 2015

In this collection you will see lots of cutouts.  The bag of the moment, the Drew Bag, was featured in it's traditional style as well as textured python with leather cutouts on the flap - an incredible statement bag. Cutouts were also visible in dresses and skirts.  Florals were consistent throughout the line, whether they were featured in print (this amazing crinkle jacket) or whether they were embroidered (check out the store front display below, and the Guipure dress).  Not to be forgotten: the Elle Bag was prominently displayed in a variety of colors, and fun springtime shades like coral.  The Elle is a great option when you want to forgo a shoulder bag in favor of a cool clutch that you can slip your hand into via a large strap.

Art Basel: Breakfast with Henri Bendel and Harper's Bazaar

Art Basel Miami 2014
When two fashion powerhouses invite you to breakfast, you jump for joy and arrive with bells on.
Henri Bendel's longevity on the market is a testament to their ability to appeal to the fashionably conscious, traditional woman in all of us.  Harper's Bazaar's editorial prowess and tireless scouting of on-trend style is the reason they've enjoyed top ranks among fashion magazines for so long.
These two hosted a breakfast at SoHo House in Miami that focused on the Henri Bendel Luxe line and the way that social and digital media play a role in this evolving industry.

Bendel Creative Director Pina Ferlisi chatted with us about the Luxe Line.  When developing this line, the goal was to meld high fashion jewelry with the enviable quality of the real thing.  This is the reason that the pieces in the Luxe Line look and feel authentic. The settings (from pave, to asscher, to cushion cut) mimic real-life glamour.  The weight of the pieces is also a factor in their quality.  Semi-precious stones are used in production, including Swarovski crystals.  When all is said and done, this line boasts chic, well made pieces that you're going to want in your velvet lined jewelry drawer.
Fashion Blogger Miami
Check out the line below by scrolling through these pictures (click the arrow on the right).
Today, Henri Bendel is offering 20% off most jewelry and an additional 20% off when you spend $150 or more.
This was an office friendly outfit.  I wore white, wide-leg Alice & Olivia pants and a black top from Tildon (Nordstrom).  Oh, and can't forget my green velvet heels.
