Plaid in the Fall

Hi!
It goes without saying that work has been extremely busy for me lately!  :(

On the weekends, if I have some free time, I don't want to think about what I'm wearing. Mixing prints is easy, and effortless. For a relaxed weekend look that takes minimal effort - try throwing on a fall staple, like a plaid shirt.  This one is not too heavy, so it's pretty good for Miami's "Fall." Pair a plaid button down over stripes and you're done!

The good thing about these shirts is that there are a bunch of options for you to choose from, at any price point. This one from Merona via Target is $17 and a great one, or this one from H&M which is $25.  The brand Rails has a huge variety of plaid shirts to choose from, in all colors and patterns, although they are pricier at $139.

OOTD: Faux Leather Mini + Plaid Styling

So it looks like one of the most affordable items in my closet this year, is also the most versatile and most worn.  This plaid shirt from Forever 21 is definitely one of my better Fall purchases.  I have also discovered a love of H&M online, although I will say that I find their sizing is really off...so if you don't know your H&M size, don't buy online.  H&M stores in Miami do not accept online returns (yet), which is stupid, yes, but you will feel more stupid when you have a bag of clothes that don't fit and you can't return them in-store OR ship them back!

Anyway.

I love leather detailing for Fall.  Earlier this year I splurged on the Bailey 44 Dante dress - with faux leather paneling in the color 'port'  but I was determined to still get my leather fix in the form of a mini skirt.  I hunted for a quilted leather mini, but when that didn't turn up, I got this one from H&M instead.  I think it was $15. Ridiculous and surprisingly sturdy and good quality. It fits so cute.

The skirt fits a little high waisted so I tied the ends of the plaid shirt into a knot and away I went.  I can't seem to find it online anymore, but I do like this French Connection one as well - it fits very similar to mine (high waisted and fitted)

OOTD: How to Style Plaid

There's a running joke between my friends and I lately, because I keep wearing Fall fashions, trying to will Winter to come.
And then I just sweat my ass off.
I wore this to brunch this weekend, and promptly changed the minute I got home again.
When will the cool weather come?
