May Beauty Board

best beauty products of 2017

Bobbi Brown Art Stick Liquid Lip: these lipsticks have an amazing formula. They're the most opaque liquid lipsticks I've ever tried. They really are like melted, liquified lipsticks. The best way to apply them is with a lip brush, however, because the squeezy-tube packaging can get messy. The tiniest bit of product will suffice, so you will have these a long while. Once on, they're hydrating, light and dry down to a semi satin finish. My favorite shade is Azalea. Every time I wear it in my insta-stories, you guys ask what lip color I'm wearing.

Avon True Color Nourishing Lipstick: you definitely can't beat the $8 price point on these (now, $6!). These new Avon lipsticks offer a great range of colors and a very moisturizing formula. They apply easily, and feel good on the lips. Not very long lasting, but they do the trick.  There are ten new shades, my favorites of which include Mellow Melon (an unique peach/pink combo) and Spring Lilac (this Spring's 'it' shade). They also smell sweetly, of delicious fruit.

Urban Decay Quick Fix Hydracharge Setting Spray: I'll admit that when I first began to test out this product, I had a good amount of skepticism, after all, I don't ever use primer, so a primer water seemed a bit unnecessary.  Well, girl, let me tell you something about this little wonder; my skin feels very dewy and nourished when I mist this all over, and something about it causes my makeup to apply more evenly and last longer.

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Summer Glow Collection

Estee Lauder is on my radar! First, because I tried out the fantastic Advanced Night Repair Powerfoil mask! (For my review on that, check out my Facebook post), and secondly, because of the new Bronze Goddess Summer Glow makeup collection! While I loved most of the products, there was one which was not a hit. Keep reading to see what made the cut and what didn't.

Victor Henao, Director of Global Makeup Design for Estee Lauder

Victor Henao and I, after he did my makeup.
I am wearing: Double Wear To Go Foundation in the shade Sand,
Lipstick: Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in color Irrepressible,
Lip liner: Double Wear Stay In Place Lip Pencil in the color Spice,
Eye shadows: Magic Smokey Powder Shadow Stick in Charred Plum

I had the pleasure of getting my makeup done by Victor Henao, Director of Global Makeup Design for Estée Lauder.  He is the creative mind behind Kendall Jenner's makeup looks for the Modern Muse campaign. He is also responsible for a much broader creative aspect for the company, than you may first imagine. You see, Victor is part of the reason that you can now get an exact color match for your skin and lips at Estee Lauder counters nationwide.  If you follow me on Snapchat (@FashionableESQ) then you saw some videos and behind-the-scenes 'first looks' at the new iMatch2.0.

Victor helped the Estee Lauder team develop the iMatch2.0, a handheld camera that matches your skin and lip color to the perfect Estee Lauder product. Victor and I chatted about product development and, of course, makeup, as he did mine.

iMatch2.0 eliminates the guessing game, and helps you narrow down the products and shades that really work for you.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Potion Review & Swatches

Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Potion swatches

I really like liquid lipsticks! I think that they're generally creamy and long lasting. While some can be drying, I prefer them over a goopy gloss that's a like a venus fly trap for my long hair.  Isn't that the worst? Then it streaks lip product all over your face. Ugh, awful.
