May Beauty Board

best beauty products of 2017

Bobbi Brown Art Stick Liquid Lip: these lipsticks have an amazing formula. They're the most opaque liquid lipsticks I've ever tried. They really are like melted, liquified lipsticks. The best way to apply them is with a lip brush, however, because the squeezy-tube packaging can get messy. The tiniest bit of product will suffice, so you will have these a long while. Once on, they're hydrating, light and dry down to a semi satin finish. My favorite shade is Azalea. Every time I wear it in my insta-stories, you guys ask what lip color I'm wearing.

Avon True Color Nourishing Lipstick: you definitely can't beat the $8 price point on these (now, $6!). These new Avon lipsticks offer a great range of colors and a very moisturizing formula. They apply easily, and feel good on the lips. Not very long lasting, but they do the trick.  There are ten new shades, my favorites of which include Mellow Melon (an unique peach/pink combo) and Spring Lilac (this Spring's 'it' shade). They also smell sweetly, of delicious fruit.

Urban Decay Quick Fix Hydracharge Setting Spray: I'll admit that when I first began to test out this product, I had a good amount of skepticism, after all, I don't ever use primer, so a primer water seemed a bit unnecessary.  Well, girl, let me tell you something about this little wonder; my skin feels very dewy and nourished when I mist this all over, and something about it causes my makeup to apply more evenly and last longer.

Erborian: a Korean skincare and makeup line sold at Sephora. Their three-step cleansing trio features Ginseng Milk, Yuza Lotion and Micellar Water. All products are gentle, nourishing and hydrating. They also have a line of BB and CC creams for fair-skinned women. The downside to these is the color range is very limited and they provide minimal, light coverage.

Aveda Dry Shampoo and Thermal Dry Conditioner: this dry "shampoo" is one of the BEST I've tried, even on my dark hair. It's also 99.8% naturally derived (from plants, non-petroleum minterals, or water), and is non-aerosol. The powder is super finely milled, too! To apply, you squeeze the bottle which causes a very fine mist to puff out onto your hair. Aveda's other new launch is the Thermal Dry Conditioner - it's a leave-in, spray conditoner made with a blend of organic jojoba and sunflower oils to help condition, detangle and soften hair.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Mask: my all-time favorite sheet mask is this one. On the heels of its success, Lauder launched this under eye mask, sure to become a quick favorite because of the way it hydrates the delicate area. The results are immediate with this product, just like they are with the original mask. They're both $expensive$ but they definitely deliver what they promise.

Aveda Hand Relief: this thick and emollient, lavender-scented hand cream really does the trick. It thoroughly coats hands, sinking in and adding moisture. I keep it by my night stand or near the TV so that I remember to grab it at the end of the day.

This Works Stress Check Breathe In: this rollerball filled with 100% natural essential oils smells amazing. Apply it to your wrists and other pulse points - and breath in deeply. I really love this!

Sephora Pro Brush #91: the best powder brush. Dense, well shaped and soft.

Tarteist Pro To Go Amazonian Clay Palette: this retails for $23, has great colors and velvety smooth shadows. The shades blend seemlessly with one another. You can layer shadows on top of each other to create new shade ranges. Blend shade Dominate with shade Hype and you get the prettiest duo chrome pink lemonade color. I haven't had the best of luck getting these to last all day. I have to test them out with an eye primer, but without one, they fade by about 3PM.

Jane Cosmetics Water Resistant Liquid Liner: in shade Metallic Pink. Yes it's pink and yes it has glitter. It will stay on your lids and add sparkle when you want it and a unique dash of unexpected color. It stays put, too.

FTC Disclosure: Everything discussed in this post was provided to me by PR except the Sephora Pro Brush and the Tarteist Pro palette.

  1. I'm not so big on lipstick though I do like matte ones as they plump the lips. Would love to connect at http://the-wardrobe-stylist.com/2017/06/02/stylish-must-haves/
