Victor Henao, Director of Global Makeup Design for Estee Lauder

Victor Henao and I, after he did my makeup.
I am wearing: Double Wear To Go Foundation in the shade Sand,
Lipstick: Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in color Irrepressible,
Lip liner: Double Wear Stay In Place Lip Pencil in the color Spice,
Eye shadows: Magic Smokey Powder Shadow Stick in Charred Plum

I had the pleasure of getting my makeup done by Victor Henao, Director of Global Makeup Design for Estée Lauder.  He is the creative mind behind Kendall Jenner's makeup looks for the Modern Muse campaign. He is also responsible for a much broader creative aspect for the company, than you may first imagine. You see, Victor is part of the reason that you can now get an exact color match for your skin and lips at Estee Lauder counters nationwide.  If you follow me on Snapchat (@FashionableESQ) then you saw some videos and behind-the-scenes 'first looks' at the new iMatch2.0.

Victor helped the Estee Lauder team develop the iMatch2.0, a handheld camera that matches your skin and lip color to the perfect Estee Lauder product. Victor and I chatted about product development and, of course, makeup, as he did mine.

iMatch2.0 eliminates the guessing game, and helps you narrow down the products and shades that really work for you.
Product Development: developers photographed hundreds upon hundreds of faces, focusing on skin color, lip tone, etc. They then divided those skin types into categories and assigned them corresponding makeup products and shades from the Estee Lauder line.  At first, you may think that this limits your options, but it doesn't.  It produces a large variety of sample shades that can work for you, so that you can choose from nudes, all the way down the line to vampy, deep purples. It can help you understand that those colors you shied away from, actually work well on you. It also helps you resist the temptation to buy something you would not get use out of.  We're all guilty of doing this! We buy something on impulse, and it ends up sitting in a drawer, because it just doesn't look good!

Here's how it works: The Estee rep will hold the iMatch up to your temple, cheek and jawline/neckline to capture the variations in tone across your face. The reason this is innovative is because this is the first device of it's kind to match both skintone as well as lip tone.  Another large makeup retailer also uses a similar technology, but only Estee Lauder's version captures a makeup match for your lips.

If you're a self-professed makeup addict, like myself, then you pretty much know what shades work well for you, but at times, even I need help with picking out, say, a concealer or foundation.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Have a happy, happy Thanksgiving. Thank you for reading.
