Do you have a lot of yellow in your wardrobe? I know a lot of you shy away from the color but I think it's perfect for the spring and summer months. If you're still not ready to take the all yellow plunge, begin by incorporating it in small doses, like the ikat print of my tunic. Some great summer options are this dress and this dress. No matter what your skintone, yellow will help illuminate and brighten your complexion. While we're on the topic, how cute is this one piece lightning bolt bathing suit by Wildfox?

Weekend Look
You know me, I'm a firm believer in easy weekend style. T-shirt dresses that you can just put on without any zipping or tying, and shoes that you can just slide right into, without even thinking about messing with a buckle - yes, yes and yes. Today's outfit is exactly that: easy.
Everything about this J.Crew Factory dress is perfect for the weather right now. I am loving how airy and light it is. You can get some really good deals on their site this weekend (the dress is $22). The entire site is 50% off.
I'm adoring the newest addition to my shoe closet family: the Vince Allison Mule (here in black) is minimalistic perfection. I ordered them off of Shopbop at first and they sent me a used, worn pair! Saks more than made up for it when I saw them go on sale after purchase, and they accommodated me with a price adjustment. It's the little things! These run a tad on the small side, if you're between sizes then size up a full size. I was worried that the peep toe opening would be too wide, but it's not. My toes stay where they're supposed to. Arabella makes a very similar open toed mule - and this pair is currently down from $200 to $60! That's a bargain ;)

Little Black Dress for The Office: 9 to 5 Style File, Work Wear
Hi! My 9 to 5 Style File continues today (FRIDAY, YAY!!) with the classic LBD (little black dress).
The LBD will forever be a closet staple for every woman. There are countless ways to style one, but maybe the best part about them is that they do not involve much thought...so if you really don't have the time or energy to put an entire outfit together, you can definitely still achieve an office-chic look without thinking by just hopping into a LBD.
For this look, I threw on a leopard cardigan over a little black dress, and cinched the waist with a gold belt. You can tone it down for the office by eliminating the red lipstick and the super large, sparkly earrings. Keep them in your work bag and add them when the clock strikes 5 ;)
Finding the right little black dress is easy once you have narrowed down the style that you're going for. For the office I like a classic high neck, shift or a wrap dress. You can narrow it down further by deciding if you want sleeveless or a slight sleeve. I like this pencil dress from Nordstrom. It is a good office length, has a high neck and a little cap sleeve and is ultra classic.
You can achieve my favorite lazy girl bun (which was toppling over in these shots...great) by waiting until Friday night to wash your hair.
Just kidding.
Not really.

9 to 5 File: Navy Separates
This concept is not new, but I personally developed it because of my full time job as an attorney in Miami. I have been practicing for a little over 9 years now, and believe me when I tell you, I have seen some pretty scary outfits that people try to pass off as office appropriate.
Scooped necklines exposing cleavage? Check. Hemlines 10 inches above the knees? Check. Sleeveless, tight dresses paraded into the courtroom? Check. Skintight leggings paired with long, untucked tunics? Check.
You would not believe what some women wear to work!
My hope for this style series is that working women who have to go to and from the office all week, have a chance to get a bit of fashion inspiration from the posts and still dress professionally. In between, I will still continue to show weekend outfits.

Isabel Toledo Spring Collection, Park Grove Miami
{Park Grove Residence Rendering provided courtesy of Terra Group} |
On Monday, May 4th, Fashion Designer Isabel Toledo showed selectively gorgeous and beautifully crafted pieces at the Park Grove Sales Center. Park Grove is the new, multi-tower residence project that's going to be calling Coconut Grove it's new home. We were hosted on the 7th floor, in a mock up of a residence which boasted some of the most incredible waterfront views in Miami. The project features the combined efforts of world class architects, designers and developers (Terra Group and Related Group). Famed Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas is credited with designing the overall project. The residences will feature individual private rooftop pools (reserved for the Penthouses), 24 hour valet and concierge service, in addition to sleek and modern Sub Zero / Wolf appliances and floor to ceiling windows. I'll take three, please.

Now, on to the fashion! What really stood out to me from this collection was the use of luxurious, high-end fabrics. Each piece was constructed with material that had an infinite amount of detailing on it. My favorite look (pictured below), featured hundreds of applique flowers on a sheer skirt. I love the muted color scheme of the dress with the pop from the flowers. Isabel Toledo has been formally designing since the 1980's, but her love of fashion and design was cultivated from a very early age, in her Cuban hometown of Camajuani. She's an inspirational woman in the business, who has solidified her place in fashion history with the help of First Lady Michelle Obama. Obama wore an Isabel Toledo dress and coat to the Presidential Inauguration. If you would like to read more about her, she just published her new book, Roots of Style.
Another fun fact about Toledo: she and her husband recently collaborated with makeup brand MAC on a collection where they designed the packaging for a new line. They're items are so cute!

Levinson Jeweler's Mother's Day Gift Guide
Levinson Jewelers has been a South Florida staple for fine jewelry for 30 years now. They're based out of Ft. Lauderdale and offer high end pieces by Cartier, Bulgari and more. Their website has the most exquisite selection of jewelry. I could not help but compile a list of my favorites in case you were in the market to purchase something super special for your mom or wife, this Mother's Day. Gentlemen, you have less than 5 days (Mother's Day is May 10th, 2015). No pressure.
My standout favorite piece is the Bulgari B.Zero1 ring in pink gold and blue marble. This is the traditional Bulgari style that you know and love updated with gorgeous color combinations.
