PREGNANCY FILE: PRE-NATAL MASSAGE - THE BILTMORE

Pre-Natal spa review at the Biltmore Hotel in Miami

I recently spent an afternoon at The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables. Our best friend celebrated a surprise birthday, pool side, in a cabana. While we were on site I had my first pre-natal massage and snapped some photos of what I wore. For reference, I'm 22 weeks pregnant in these pictures.

Click through for my outfit photos. This is look can be both a maternity look and non-maternity look. It's a fun poolside or beach look that is really easy. The outfit is built around a few layers of bright colors with a pop of really bright color from the shoes.  It's a bold color palette, layered over a solid yellow dress. Pretty easy and fun to wear. If you have kids and are going to be running around after them, change out the floor-length duster for something with a slightly shorter hem and keep the flats. I'm 22 weeks pregnant in these pictures.

I had not visited The Biltmore Spa since they recently renovated (about 5 months back). The spa and locker room areas are in pristine condition, as they have been redone. My masseuse's name was Martha and she was excellent.  The main difference between a pre-natal massage and a regular massage are that the pre-natal massage is done on your side.  Some things to note about this spa:
Pre-Natal massage review
  • While this hotel boasts the largest swimming pool of any hotel in the United States, you will not get to use it as a guest of the spa. There is no whirlpool, or any type of smaller hot tub/pool that you will be able to use either.
  • You will have access to a Eucalyptus Steam Room and a Himalayan Salt Sauna. I did not test either of these out.
  • While I really enjoyed my massage, I hated the fact that the room was so bright.  There are no blackout shades over spa room windows; in fact, there are barely any shades at all. The translucent shade that covers the windows allows 90% of sunlight to filter through. If you watch this video, it accurately shows you how bright the rooms are.
  • The Relaxation Room boasts the same bright light!

Very thin shades allow lots of light to creep into the spa rooms at The Biltmore Hotel

  • There are wild parrots that nest in the palm trees that surround the historic and beautiful property. They make lots of noise and can distract from your moment of zen while you're getting your massage.
  • The spa uses Babor products and oils which are high end skincare products hailing from Germany. These are luxurious products that apply smoothly and do not have strong or harsh scents.
  • The massage bed is temperature controlled, so you are able to let your therapist know if the bed or room is too hot/cold for your liking.
  • The massage bed was very comfortable. I have a herniated disc and was able to control the bed and adjust it to different positions.  One of the best massage beds I've tested.
  • Something to note is that spa service prices increase on weekends. For full access to the spa menu with pricing, click here.
