I test drove two shades of the new
Burt's Bees 100% Natural Lip Crayon and wanted to share the results with you.
The lip crayons are the latest in the the Burt's Bees lip color line. The product is a chubby lip pencil but does not require sharpening. It has a creamy, semi sheer, finish that's in between glossy and matte (the company describes it as "semi-matte"). It goes on smoothly. For you MAC lovers, you'll find the composition similar to lustre lipsticks, but a little bit less pigmented. Below are swatches for
Carolina Coast and
Hawaiian Smolder.
Top swatch is
Carolina Coast, bottom swatch is MAC's Lovelorn lustre lipstick - very similar, could possibly be a dupe.
They retail for $8.99 and I think they're a good deal. Like I said, they have a similar consistency to MAC lipsticks, so the quality is there but they have the added benefit of being 100% natural. They're moisturizing because they contain Jojoba oil, Kendi oil, and Shea butter. You can pick them up at Target and other drugstores. They're easy to take on the go because you don't have to worry about sharpening them. After a few hours, the sheen wears off but the color remains, sort of staining your lips and I found that it became more matte after some wear.

These look awesome! I bet they would be a nice alternative to my pricey NARS pencils.
