Beauty File: Latest & Greatest Skin Clearing Products

A couple of months ago I ran out of my regular Solgar vitamin B-12 complex and instead of ordering another batch online, I bought regular vitamin B-12 (not complex) at CVS.
Had I known what was coming I would never have done this!
My face began to break out really, really badly - and it was not getting better on it's own.

I'm embarrassed to say that it took me way too long to figure out what was causing the breakouts.   The light bulb finally went off.  I Googled "acne and vitamin B12."

Dude.

I was shocked to see how many people suffered massive breakouts after using vitamin B-12! There were tons of threads, detailing the horrible effects that this vitamin had in terms of breakouts.

Once I figured out what was causing the breakouts, I was relieved, but I still had to deal with the nastiness that was plaguing my face.  I basically lived on ramen for a week in order to fund my Sephora.com skin-clearing product haul.

These are the latest and greatest beauty products in my arsenal that are helping calm my skin.
Click below the link to read my reviews.

Dr. Jart + Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm Review: This is a miraculous BB cream.  It has medium coverage.  If you let it settle, it can be buildable coverage.  It is actually amazing.  When you first put it on, it looks as if it doesn't really blend into your skin or match your skin tone, and after a while, it's like a little skin chameleon.  It morphs to blend perfectly.  It goes on dewy, but it control oil.  It's strange to me how something that goes on this dewy and balmy can control oil, but it definitely does.  I also love it for under eye circles.  It contains aloe vera, caviar extract (yes, caviar), green tea, and Arbutin which helps to fade dark marks and hyperpigmentation.

Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser Review: this is black gel cleanser that gets slightly warm when you rub it into your face.  It is supposed to open up pores when it gets warm, in order to get the gunk out.  I don't know about that...but it does contain artichoke leaf extract, which sounds fancy, and vitamin C.  This was a little drying at first, so I began to use less of the product when I washed, which remedied the drying.  Now I really like it as a cleanser.  I feel like this takes off almost all of my face makeup but it does not remove eye makeup.

Josie Maran Argan Oil Review:  On the fence about this.  Everywhere you look, this has great reviews.  I  did find it to be a really good moisturizer.  It's a serum so it takes a long time to absorb into the skin, and it took too long for my taste.  I use this sparingly, and I like it for under and around the eye area.

Peter Thomas Roth Max Complexion Corrector Pads Review: my favorite.  The ultimate.  These sort of remind me of those Stridex pads from the 90's (remember those?).  They're pads that are soaked in a combination of Glycolic Acid (10%) and Salicylic Acid (2%).  I would normally be the first person to stay away from anything that has these ingredients.  I have really sensitive skin that is prone to redness.  I never use anything on it that can be drying, cause peeling or redness.  I really read up on this before I ordered it and I am so happy that I did.  Taking recommendations from reviews, I cut the pads in half, and I use only half of a little pad on my entire face.  I use them every other day.  I strongly believe these are what have made the biggest difference lately.  They make your skin smooth, help eliminate blackheads and brighten your skin overall.  They also have a calming effect that makes your skin less red.  IF I had to recommend only one of the products from this post, this would be it.

Aveeno Daily Moisturizer - Ultra Calming with SPF Review:  I've used this forever.  I like that it has calming ingredients and that it's thick and very moisturizing.  It is quick to absorb and contains SPF which makes it good for daytime.  This same moisturizer used to also come in SPF 30 but it was discontinued.  This also helps my makeup go on better.

If any of you guys have theses products, I would love to hear what you have to say about them.

  1. I'm looking to try a BB cream, so thanks for your rec. I hope you're "recovering" well from your breakout - I never realized that about B-12!

  2. I've never actually tried B-12 before; or at least not intentionally. Interesting! I still have yet to try a non-drug store BB cream. I just might try the Dr. Jart!

Thanks for sharing, but sorry about your break out!
